Objective of the Project

 


This project aims to contribute to inclusive peacebuilding and gender equality through the following goals:


1)  Educational goal: the culmination of the edited book and practical toolkit can have a significant impact upon existing knowledge streams on women, youth and peacebuilding. This is likely to transform the ways in which the peace actors understand ‘the other’ in conflict zones, develop peace-focused, gender sensitive, communication skills and norms of non-violent behaviour. 


2) Community goal: The project has a significant community impact in terms of a reduction of violence and an increase in the inclusion of women and youth in community-based peace and cohesion.

Project Outline

  In the initial phase of our project, titled "Empowering Peacebuilders: Bridging Policy and Practice," we have meticulously outlined a series of activities to lay a solid foundation for our objectives. This includes updating our project proposal to incorporate new insights and feedback, delegating tasks within the team to ensure equitable resource allocation, and designing a survey questionnaire to gather input from stakeholders. We will also function as co-editors to oversee the selection, review, and finalization of articles for publication, and develop a dissemination strategy to maximize the reach and impact of our project. Additionally, continuous engagement between facilitators and team members will be facilitated to provide guidance and support throughout the project journey. Executive Summary of the Project

The project focuses on promoting gender equality and youth empowerment in peacebuilding efforts by leveraging global policy frameworks such as UN Resolutions 1325 and 2250 on Women, Peace, and Security, and Youth, Peace, and Security, respectively. It aims to bridge the gap between policy-oriented academia and development practice in the areas of gender, youth, peace, and security. The project's purpose is to facilitate knowledge transfer and capacity building among peace practitioners through the creation of a Peace Repository and interactive roundtable sessions.
